  1. Popping My Blerry

    August 12, 2011 by Layla

Well I thought it was about time I got in on this blogging action. I’ve been meaning to set one up for about.. hmm… 5 years – but you see I’ve been suffering from this disease. It’s called procrastination.

In an attempt to cure myself of this I got a lovely friend to help kick me up the bum and set this up for me. The steel toed boots were a tad unnecessary I thought… but I digress.
‘If you build it, he will come.’ A little mantra we all should live by, and I wish I could say I came up with it. If you don’t know where that came from then stop reading now, we can never be friends :D So here I am building it and hoping he comes. ‘He’ being opportunity.
You see all my friends, people I meet, the guy in Tescos even (hello product placement, oh and hi Joe, your plums were delicious this week), tell me I should blog. ‘Get your stuff out there!’
My ‘stuff’, in case you’re wondering, isn’t my rack, (so panic not) – it’s my writing, my videos, and my artwork etc.
As we all know, the internet is a genius place that can make our dreams come true!! Bieber, anyone? And look at Julie and Julia! (Wonderful film. Check it out. Tucci is amazing as always.)
Seriously though, it is a great starting point and it’s time to take advantage. I have made a pathetically small amount of vids on YouTube and I’m going to be rectifying that really soon.
I love comedy so I think I’ll start with some more spoofing (tonnes of fun). Hey, it worked for Miles Fisher – if you don’t know who he is you must Google him now, he’s hilarious, and his Tom Cruise is scary good. Mostly cos Tom Cruise himself has gotten a little scary. Still Love him though. Accidentally wrote ‘ogle’ instead of Google first. You can ogle him too, he’s pretty gorgeous.
I’m looking for inspiration right now. So if there is anyone/ any movie you would like to see me spoof then let me know and I’ll give it a shot. Keep in mind it will be cheaply made with a shaky camera but hopefully that will just add to the comedy and hey these hand held cameras are all the rage these days. I could be the next JJ Abrams! Hey, it could happen. Yes.
For those who haven’t seen it (and to whet your appetite) check out this spoof of Dangerous Minds that I actually did for a competition.

And hey, despite the lack of technical wizardy it *did* get shortlisted. A bit of creativity goes a long way. How do you like them apples? 
